Sony has announced the release of a new software update for its PlayStation 5 console. Version 23.01-07.00.00 includes numerous improvements in the gamer experience, both in social and accessibility aspects. Among the most notable novelties is the complete integration of Discord’s voice chat, which will allow users to join voice chats directly from the console. Also, compatibility with TRV for 1440p has been added, ensuring smoother visual performance on HDMI 2.1 screens compatible with TRV.
These improvements were previously announced when a beta firmware revision for the console was released, which included the integration of Discord. The full integration of Discord has been one of the main demands of gamers, and it has now finally been fulfilled. Additionally, changes have been made to the parameters of the PS5’s 1440p output test to allow compatibility with a wider selection of HDMI displays.
The complete patch notes for the update provided by PlayStation through their official website are shown below. The new software update is now available for download. Gamers can easily update their system from the console’s settings menu.
Here is a list of outstanding improvements to the PlayStation 5:
- Video output improvements: You can now enjoy 1440p video output on your PS5, thanks to expanded compatibility with VRR (variable refresh rate).

- Integration with Discord: Connect your Discord account to your PlayStation Network account and join voice chats on your PS5. You can also share information about your gaming activity with your Discord friends.
- Voice command for recording games: You can now record your games using just your voice. You can also save a specific duration of your game, from 15 seconds to 60 minutes, by saying “Hey PlayStation, capture the last X minutes” or “Hey PlayStation, stop recording” to end the recording.
Note that the Voice Command is currently only available in English for gamers with PlayStation Network accounts in the US and UK.
