Recently the Forza team announced details of the upcoming update for Forza Horizon 5, which will bring major graphical improvements.
In the Forza Monthly from November 3, great details were given on what would be the next update for Forza Horizon 5, highlighting a new Horizon story ‘Donut Media’ and the return of Body Kits Rocket Bunny. Surprisingly for many, the upcoming update will have a bit more than just content, as it will now be possible to activate real-time Ray Tracing during gameplay.
Currently, you could only activate Ray Tracing in the gameplay with a mod, but with the arrival of this update, it will no longer be necessary, so we will have new configuration options in Forza Horizon 5.

These new video adjustment options in the latest version will offer more flexibility, as well as antialiasing improvements in the game. As with the recent introduction of TAA, the developers did not hesitate to implement new smoothing options and two temporal scaling technologies, which are Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and the AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 2 from AMD.
Now that Ray Tracing will be enabled during gameplay, it is likely that performance will suffer a bit, but with the implementation of these two scaling technologies, we will be able to take full advantage of higher settings without major performance losses, especially with Nvidia’s DLSS.
Also, Ray Tracing has improved in quality, adding two more options that we will be able to select inside the game, which are: Ultra and Extreme. These two new options will run Ray Tracing at a more complete resolution, expanding Ray Tracing in the open world (gameplay) and in the rest of the AI vehicles:
As shown in the table shared by Forza Support Team in their article, the Medium and High options will continue to have the same functions, being available only in the Forzavista, while the new settings, Ultra and Extreme will provide a more extended Ray Tracing, being available in the open world and in photo mode.
These new improvements will arrive along with the new Donut Media update this November 8, and very soon players will be able to enjoy these new configurations for Ray Tracing, and with this news, it is very likely that you want to be sure if your computer has the right specs for the best Ray Tracing experience, so developers recommend the recommended ideal specs:
Ray Tracing during gameplay is something that was expected at the launch of the game; up until this point, it was only possible to appreciate Ray Tracing in Forzavista, but now, a year later, the experience with Forza Horizon 5 will be different with these small changes.
