What’s up, gamers — ready for news that’s going to change the way we collect?

Signs have emerged that Bandai Namco is preparing to open its first official store in Latin America, which will be located in Mexico City — which would give the otaku community a permanent space to buy their favorite products. The company hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but the details already circulating point strongly in that direction.

The opening, reportedly set for August 21, 2026, would mark a milestone for Mexican collectors, who could then get official items without relying on imports or resellers.

Bandai Namco reveals the date and exact location of its new store

According to reports published on August 13, the company will open its doors at Nápoles 33, colonia Juárez, in the Cuauhtémoc borough, right next to the Yama Insurgentes Reforma corporate offices.

The address is already listed on Google Maps under the name Bandai Namco Shop, with photos of the location showing the brand’s large logo and a medium-sized Gundam figure out front.

Now all that’s left is to wait for the official announcement to learn every detail of the opening and, above all, to find out which exclusive products, limited editions, and collectible items will be officially available in Mexico.

What you’ll find inside: product lines and store design

The store will offer a wide range of official collectibles, including Gashapon, Tamagotchi, Dragon Ball figures, Gunpla kits, and items from Tamashii Nations, Banpresto, and Ichibansho.

The interior will be visible through a glass wall, letting visitors see shelves packed with merchandise and several Gashapon machines that dispense small capsule figures.

The location is strategically situated near the Hamburgo station on Metrobús Line 1 and the Insurgentes Metro station, making access easy for both residents and tourists.

Background: Bandai Namco’s history in Mexico before the permanent store

Before this opening, Bandai Namco had taken part in events like CCXP and La Mole through pop-up stores, and had launched notable collaborations such as “PAC-MAN Night” with Club América in April 2026.

The company also already ran an online store distributing products from franchises like Gundam, One Piece, and Demon Slayer, but it had never had a permanent physical retail location in the country.

Why this launch is key for the Mexican market and geek culture

Having an official store guarantees the authenticity of the products, reducing reliance on imports and giving local collectors the assurance that they’re buying official items.

The announcement coincides with the start of the Gundam Summer Event 2026 at Frontón Bucareli, hinting at a synergy strategy that could drive fan tourism and generate a significant boost in local sales.

This space will serve not only as a retail point but also as a cultural hub where events, exclusive launches, and community activities can be organized, strengthening the anime-gamer scene in Mexico.

The presence of a store of this scale could encourage other Japanese publishers to consider similar openings, intensifying competition and expanding the offerings for consumers.

Gamer community reaction

Comments on social media reflect huge anticipation: fans say the store will be a “collector’s paradise” and that they hope to find limited editions that were previously only available at international events.

At the same time, some users are expressing concern about stock availability and prices, and are asking the store to offer pre-orders or memberships to secure the most sought-after items.
