What happened to Genshin Impact coming to Nintendo Switch, will it finally arrive in 2023?

The arrival of Genshin Impact on the tiny Nintendo Switch console has become an eternal mystery for many. Months before the official release of the game, the official Genshin Impact YouTube account published a trailer aimed at the Japanese public announcing the arrival of Genshin Impact on the Switch console. Since then, neither HoYoverse nor Nintendo have given any news regarding its official arrival on the console.

No one knows when Genshin Impact will arrive on the Switch, and many gamers have been unhappy and upset, commenting that this wait is getting ridiculously long. What many don’t know is the complexity it can take for a game to adapt to the Nintendo Switch, and this goes beyond its limited hardware.

The Nintendo Switch Hardware

Many gamers are concluding that the developers are taking too long due to the underpowered hardware that the console has, and it is a bit strange knowing that great games like Nier: Automata or The Witcher 3 were released on the tiny Switch without a problem. However, for a game that is constantly updating, the situation is different. It’s unclear what optimization issues may be hindering the game’s port to the Nintendo Switch.

One of the biggest rumors is that the developers are waiting for the console to receive a good hardware update in order to take full advantage of the game’s potential but considering the excellent ports that have been released on the Switch, it may be tricky to confirm this.

Another reason why some gamers are in agreement is that Sony is behind this delay because they have an exclusivity agreement with Genshin Impact, which would not come as a surprise to many if that were the case.

All of the above are just a few of the many comments made by players on a Reddit post debating the possible reasons why Genshin Impact has not yet arrived on the Nintendo Switch; no one knows how long the delay will be or when it will arrive. So why haven’t they given any news? Is it at risk of being canceled?

No, the Nintendo Switch version of Genshin Impact has not been canceled. In case you didn’t know, in early 2022, the developers confirmed to the Nintendo Go site that the plan to release Genshin Impact on Switch is still on track, as is its development.

COVID19, something no one expected.

We know that the pandemic situation affected the entire world in all aspects; China was one of the most affected and, of course, one of the strictest when it came to controlling COVID cases, and this case may be one of the main reasons for the slow development that Genshin Impact had on Switch at first. We’re also not going to rule out that the Nintendo Switch hardware has something to do with its delay, but this doesn’t mean that Genshin Impact can’t be run on a Nintendo Switch.

Now that the developers have reconfirmed the game’s release on Switch, all we can do is quietly wait for further news. The developers are simply taking their time to work after the big situation caused by COVID 19.

We have just started the year 2023, so it may bring several surprises, and one of them is to finally see some news between Nintendo and HoYoerse. Are you expecting this great and popular game for the Nintendo Switch?
