Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is off to an impressive start. Ubisoft announced on its official X account that the remake has already surpassed 3 million copies sold during its first week. Released on July 9, the game sold 2 million copies within its first 24 hours and has continued to build momentum ever since.
Beyond its commercial success, the game has also received strong reviews from critics. It currently holds a 94% rating on OpenCritic, with reviewers praising its visual improvements, updated gameplay mechanics, and faithful recreation of the original experience.
The PC version has also performed exceptionally well. On Steam, the game is estimated to have sold more than 701,000 copies, generating approximately $35 million in revenue. It has also reached daily peak player counts of between 45,000 and 60,000 concurrent users, making it one of Ubisoft’s strongest recent launches on the platform.
Alongside the sales milestone, Ubisoft confirmed that it is developing a New Game+ mode, one of the community’s most requested features. While the company has not yet revealed a release date or additional details, the update is expected to allow players to replay the campaign while retaining part of their progression.
Not everything surrounding the launch has been positive. The game has sparked discussion over its microtransactions, with some players arguing they are unnecessary for a full-priced remake. Ubisoft has also faced criticism from parts of the community following recent layoffs at some of its development studios.
Despite the controversy, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced proves that high-quality remakes continue to resonate with players. Modernized visuals, refined gameplay, and the nostalgia surrounding one of the franchise’s most beloved entries have helped drive its outstanding commercial performance.
It remains to be seen whether Ubisoft can maintain that momentum through future updates, the release of New Game+, and by addressing community concerns over the game’s microtransactions.
